Tide Bank Smart Plan Subscription

by Martin Creighan | Dec 9, 2025 | Book-keeping | 0 comments

The Tide Bank Smart Plan subscription is now VAT-exempt (no VAT applies).
Following a review by HMRC, Tide was granted VAT-exempt status for its paid plans (Smart, Pro, and Max). This change took effect from 1 October 2025, meaning that for any subscription period after this date, you will not be charged VAT.
Previously, the fee was subject to the standard UK VAT rate because it was considered a charge for "value-added" services associated with the membership, which are distinct from standard, VAT-exempt banking transactions.
